How it all began……….

We had been living in the Alps for many years in little villages, and were looking for a change. In 1998 we had wanted to move to British Columbia, but numerous problems surrounding the hotel business in the Alps, plus a lack of available funds, meant it was only really a pipedream. We went en famille for a 3 week trip and looked at various possibilities, but in the end, it could only ever be shelved due to lack of resources and work complications.
The following years were spent moving to Holland, then to Toulouse, all the whilst fixing up the Alpine business so that it could run with the minimum of hassle, but also to generate us ample funds. We did not think much about Canada until 2005 when Kes was getting older and more manageable, and it became clearer that we could finally see the fruits of profits from the sale of assets in the Alps, and as a result started looking at a nice family holiday.
During a visit to the Alps in October 2005, Canada came up as a nice and safe destination, suitable for smaller children. During the trip in 1998 we had rushed around doing 5000 kms in 3 weeks and this time thought we could enjoy our holiday by taking it easier. We would also camp. That night we stayed in a hotel at Avignon and didn’t mention the subject. However, we woke up the next day and after 30 minutes of driving back towards Toulouse, both adults had become obsessed with the idea of looking at another try on going to British Columbia. By the time we had got back home after a 4 hour drive, we abandoned the children and buried ourselves in our computers endlessly searching internet for information.
This continued for several months until Antonietta made a 3 day reconnaissance trip on the way back from seeing a girlfriend in San Francisco. Tony then made a 1 week trip in May before we finally went on the family holiday in July 2006. At this time it was very much an idea, although competing with the idea of moving to Spain, whilst we were also very comfortable where we were in Pibrac.
